PRO JUVENTUTE 2026 - Recognition of the proTeszt Association for the Members of the Bartók Theatre Group

In 2026, the proTeszt Association established the Pro Juventute Award to recognize outstanding artistic achievement within the Bartók Theatre Group. The award expresses appreciation for passion toward theatrical creation, a strong sense of responsibility, and commitment to community life. The distinction is awarded to the student who, throughout the academic year, has played a defining role in the collective creative process through talent, dedication, stage presence, and community involvement. The recipient receives the title of “Best Member of the Bartók Theatre Group”, together with a certificate, a personalized commemorative plaque, and a cash prize of 500 RON.

The nomination process begins with a secret vote among the members of the theatre group, who nominate three candidates. The winner is selected by a three-member professional jury consisting of actor Attila Balázs, representing the proTeszt Association; director Hunor Horváth, Interim Director of the Csiky Gergely Hungarian State Theatre of Timișoara; and Ildikó Erdei, Principal of the Bartók Béla High School. The Bartók Theatre Group is mentored by actor András Csaba Molnos.

The proTeszt Association created this award to highlight, year after year, young people who distinguish themselves not only through artistic talent but also through perseverance, responsibility, and commitment to their community. This award celebrates more than individual achievement. It celebrates young people who devote their time, energy, and creativity to a shared artistic endeavor and who believe that theatre is more than performance—it is encounter, dialogue, and community.

Youth theatre is a unique value. It does not merely create performances; it shapes people. It teaches young people to listen, collaborate, take responsibility, and find their own voice. Within a minority community, its significance becomes even greater: theatre strengthens identity, builds community, and helps ensure that language and culture remain living realities for future generations.

This year’s nominees — Kinga Farkas-Erdély, Áron Győrfi, and Glória Kőnig — have all demonstrated remarkable talent, dedication, and community-building spirit. Being nominated is, in itself, a significant distinction, as it reflects the trust and respect of their peers. Following careful deliberation, the jury unanimously decided that the 2026 Pro Juventute Award should be awarded to Kinga Farkas-Erdély.

Kinga has distinguished herself not only through her work on stage but also through her humanity, perseverance, and active presence within the community. She is an artist who does not merely shape roles but also helps shape the community around her; someone who contributes not only to the work itself but also to the spirit in which it is created.

The proTeszt Association warmly congratulates Kinga on receiving the Pro Juventute Award and the title of “Best Member of the Bartók Theatre Group.” May her curiosity, passion, and openness continue to guide her journey, and may she always preserve what is perhaps the most valuable legacy of youth theatre: faith in the strength of community and in the stories that live within every human being.
